About the Artist
Bree Kuhnen is an oil painter and digital illustrator who splits her work between abstract expressionism and character design. Traditionally, she uses oil paints to create large scale abstract paintings, tapping into emotions and experiences to tell stories through colour, line, and contrast. Digitally, she creates unique characters influenced by their individual stories, using her knowledge of anatomy, lighting and perspective to bring them to life. Taking inspiration from painters like Jay Isaac, and illustrators like Peter Mohrbacher, she aims to balance the freedom and emotion of painting with the specificity and detail of portraiture and character design.
